Bio

Doruk Somunkıran is a composer with a unique blend of east and west, symphonic and electronic, powerful and ethereal.

In his 20’s, Doruk followed a successful career path in the field of international trade and diplomacy- moonlighting as a composer in his bedroom studio. At the age of 30, he decided to pursue his dreams and quit his day job to follow his true passion: music. He applied to Berklee College of Music, the undisputed leader in the field of contemporary music education. He received a substantial scholarship, upon which he moved to Boston, MA to study music. He graduated from Berklee, magna cum laude, with a multitude of awards and scholarships.

Doruk is currently based in Istanbul, Turkey, where he actively scores music for TV series and documentaries. He’s currently working passionately on his second album, Ancient People of the Future – The Saga, which is due to be released in the form of singles throughout 2017. Doruk is also an active teacher of music technology and theory.
